Austin Lucas: A New Home In The Old World (Combat Rock Industry / Hometown Caravan / Last Chance, 2011)
It was pretty hard to decide the album of the month because both Austin Lucas and Jason Isbell released wonderful albums and either of them would be a great choice. But if I have to choose, in the end my selection has to be A New Home …

I’ve been meaning to write about folk singer-songwriter Haroula Rose’s debut album These Open Roads, but so far I haven’t found the time to do so (= I’ve been lazy). I got it through Reviewshine and it’s a really lovely album. Hopefully one day I write more about the album, but I just saw this video and had to post it at once. Free To …

Delay Trees and their high quality dreamy pop music has gotten a criminally little amount of love on this little blog. It is a really good band and one of the finest newcomers to the Finnish pop scene. Their self-titled debut album will be released in the US by Friendly Fire Recordings next month and Teemu Erämaa directed this beautiful video for one of the …

If you red the first chapter of this 10 years & 10 reasons thing, you already know that The Sugarrush from Vaasa is the dearest band in the world to me (along with Bridget). The love affair started once again thanks to Miettinen who started a guitar pop / power pop label called Popatak, signed The Sugarrush, Cartoon Tree & Ben’s Diapers and released …

Josh Rouse was one of my favourite artists 6-7 years ago and his albums 1972 and Nashville are classics. I haven’t been that impressed with Josh’s latest albums, but here comes an artist that reminds me of the days when Josh Rouse ruled the world. Dean Fields is his name, he comes from Richmond, Virginia and has just released his new EP Under A Searchlight …

My Part Of Town, the debut single of The Wonderminers is now available at iTunes. A digital EP should follow before the summer. As you may or may not know The Wonderminers is ex-Red Carpet hero Petri Nakari’s new group and that basicly means that this will be marvellous stuff. Petri’s partners in crime are the greatest indie musicians on earth and coolest guys in …

Snowbirds: Snowbirds (Self-released, 2011)
This was one of those instant love affairs. Great power pop blog Absolute Powerpop reviewed this the other week. I red the review, checked out a couple of song samples I found and instantly knew this is my kind of band and my kind of music.
Snowbirds comes from Wisconsin and just released their self-titled debut album. It’s a fabulous album full of …

Ok, I’m going with a song of the day once again and this one is also an old treasure. Thanks to Fading Yellow guru Jörgen for this one. He posted this on his facebook feed and I instantly fell in love with this song. Previously I had never heard of Stephen Ambrose and what a big loss that turned out to be. This song called …

Today I’ve been mostly listening to one song. It’s called A House and it’s the first outtake from the upcoming Mummypowder album Centuries Later. I’ve listened to it over ten times and I absolutely love it. Mummypowder are still able to write some of the finest guitar pop in this country and therefore it’s so great to have Janne Lehtinen & co back in this …

Blog favourite Natuson changed name to Heartbreak Ranch and also changed his style a bit. Natuson was quite close to tender and beautiful indie pop, but Heartbreak Ranch gallops towards darker folk and americana sounds. The quality of the songs is equally great as before. Here’s a couple of samples. You’ll find more demos from the links below.
