Another week, another music weekly.
The usual round up of my favorite new music is here again and as usual, there’s plenty to love. So far I’ve spent most time with the new Flora Hibberd EP and it’s rather remarkable. Don’t sleep on it. Big album release of the week was the new Lydia Loveless record. Michael C. Duguay, Bella White, The War and Treaty were also high on my albums list. That Maxwell Stern album might actually turn out to be my favorite of the week in the end. It came a bit out of the blue for me, but damn I started listening a couple of hours ago and instead of finishing this list I just want to listen to it over and over again. It’s early, but I think I’m going to love that record a lot. I also dig the Gladie and Jake Tittle EPs a lot. That Gladie EP also features a cover of Plea from a Cat Named Virtute by The Weakerthans and doesn’t everybody love that song. Oh yeah and of course we got new albums from Sufjan Stevens and Fleet Foxes too. Here’s a ful list of albums and EPs that were on my radar and can be found from the playlist too.
Maxwell Stern – Impossible Sum (Lauren Records)
Lydia Loveless – Daughter (Honey, You’re Gonna Be Late)
Flora Hibberd – Archipelago EP
Michael C. Duguay – The Winter Of Our Discotheque (So Sorry Records, 2020)
Jordan Tice – Motivational Speakeasy
Bella White – Just Like Leaving
The War and Treaty – Hearts Town (Rounder Records)
Yves Jarvis – Sundry Rock Song Stock (ANTI)
Jake Tittle – Pulling Off the Label EP (Anxiety Blanket Records)
Gladie – Thank You Card EP
Bob Mould – Blue Hearts (Merge Records)
Thomas Csorba – Thomas Csorba (Tone Tree)
Blitzen Trapper – Holy Smokes Future Jokes (Yep Roc)
Ric Robertson – Strange World EP (Free Dirt Records)
Orgone – Connection (3 Palm Records)
The Yearning feat Luci Ashbourne – Only When I’m Dancing (Elefant Records)
Mike McClure – Looking Up (Crow and Gazelle)
Our Man in the Field – The Company of Strangers (Rootsy Music)
Diana DeMuth – Misadventure (Creaky Gate Records)
Tim Heidecker – Fear of Death (Spacebomb Records)
Sufjan Stevens – The Ascension (Asthmatic Kitty Records)
Fleet Foxes – Shore (ANTI, 2020)
And then the home shore highlights. There’s new album releases from Rohkeat kuvat and Juha Mäki-Patola plus an EP from White Jackets. Kynnet, Antero Kaksikäsi and Icons of Elegance dropped new singles.
And last but not least, the international singles of the week. All long time readers probably know that The Posies is my all-time favorite band and Amazing Disgrace my all-time favorite record. So it’s quite nice that there’s a new The Posies song in the world and it’s mighty good too. Some classic Jon Auer there for you to love and enjoy. Still the song you need to hear even more is the new powerful Tre Burt single. Also great to have a new song song from Widower. Back in 2013 they wrote my song of that particular year and it’s good to have them back. Jocelyn Mackenzie is a new artist for me (thanks to Guy Capecelatro III for bringing her music to my attention) and I really loved her new single. Check out the lovely music video too. Also very fond of new songs by Rachel Brooke, Gus Clark, Gianna Lauren, Melissa Mary Ahern, Sam Burton, Jacksonport, Chloe Alison Escott, Skyway Man, Chris Stapleton and well all of them really so let’s stop the silly namedropping.
That’s it for this week. Love from a distance.

Oh and do buy the vinyl/cd/download. Spotify and other streaming services are perfect for these introductory purposes, but try to buy at least the music that matter the most to you
If you are looking this after a week has gone, the embedded Spotify will show the latest playlist. I’ll just update the same playlist because a) if someone wants to follow it, they can just follow that one list and will get a new set of songs each Sunday b) so that I don’t have a trillion of different playlists on my Spotify account.
