OCTA Music Weekly – Episode #129

Another week, another new music weekly.

Perhaps slightly slower album release week due to Easter, but there’s still plenty of new music to love. There’s new albums from Dolour, Jacksonport, Ryley Walker, Reece Sullivan, Ottoman Turks, Cristina Vane, Jess McIntosh & Aaron Smith, Moontype, The Slowinks, Dave Richardson, Hope Dunbar, Elizabeth King, Flock Of Dimes, Cha Wa and Ratboys. Plus EPs from Katie Spencer (John Martyn covers), Leche Malo, Field Medic and Ryan Allen.

The big one from Finland is the new album from Eden Prairie. Check that out for some Finnish inlaw country. Also one of my favorite Marian Valinta songs Kaunein Unesi just saw the light of the day (again). There’s also a new song from Kesämaa.

The international song of the week is the new single from The Deep Dark Woods. Other big ones are the first singles from the forthcoming albums by St. Lenox and Wes Tirey and the double-single from Tommy Alexander. Also very fond of the songs by Elephant Micah, B.B. Palmer, Molly Linen, Will Stratton, Bill & The Belles and Theo Lawrence. Just to name a few. You’ll find them all from the list below. Oh yeah and in the very beginning I have some pop treats. Andrew Gabbard made a great Emitt Rhodes cover and then there’s Dungeon of Skeletons single from January. I’m late to this party, just found the band and love all the songs they’ve released. My kind of pop music.

That’s all for this week. Other blog stuff has again been on hold, but I try to get back to it at some point. Love from a distance.

Oh and do buy the vinyl/cd/download. Spotify and other streaming services are perfect for these introductory purposes, but try to buy at least the music that matter the most to you

If you are looking this after a week has gone, the embedded Spotify will show the latest playlist. I’ll just update the same playlist because a) if someone wants to follow it, they can just follow that one list and will get a new set of songs each Sunday b) so that I don’t have a trillion of different playlists on my Spotify account.
