OCTA New Music Weekly – Episode #176

Another week, another new music weekly.

I don’t really know if I should even keep making these, but maybe music and art make sense even when the world doesn’t.

Maybe a tiny bit slower release week, but somehow I still managed to make this longer than anyone will listen. So far I’ve spent most time with the lovely Apollo Ghosts album so maybe that’s the album of the week. There’s also great new albums from Young Guv, Jake Nicoll, Jeremy Ivey, Karl Blau, Brad Armstrong, Bastards of Soul, Tone of Voice Orchestra, Widowspeak, John Earle Mainord, Johno Leeroy & JLR Band, Mike Clark & The Sugar Sounds and Mousey.

From Finland the big ones are the new albums from Antti Autio and ambient-jazz duo Tapani Rinne & Juha Mäki-Patola. We also have singles from The New Magnetic North (this has been on bandcamp before), Bobby Oroza, Teksti-TV 666, Evita (this came out a week ago).

My favorite international single is the new Scott Ballew song. Really love both advance singles from his forthcoming album. Other favorites this week came from Tre Burt, Shaela Miller, Jacksonport, Beau Jennings & The Tigers, Icarus Phoenix, Shoulder Season, Sean Thompson’s Weird Ears and Leyla McCalla. Just to name a few.

That’s all for this week. Like mentioned last week, this won’t be on Apple anymore. My apologies for the few who followed me there. So it’s Tidal and Spotify at least for now. Love from a distance.

Oh and do buy the vinyl/cd/download. Spotify and other streaming services are perfect for these introductory purposes, but try to buy at least the music that matter the most to you

If you are looking this after a week has gone, the embedded Spotify will show the latest playlist. I’ll just update the same playlist because a) if someone wants to follow it, they can just follow that one list and will get a new set of songs each Sunday b) so that I don’t have a trillion of different playlists on my Spotify account. If you want to find the older ones I’ve moved them to the weekly playlist archive. So hit that link above and I’m sure you’ll find this playlist too.
