OCTA New Music Weekly – Episode #193

Another week, another new music weekly.

Still kinda slow on the release front. There’s still several special ones though like a new Ian Daniel Kehoe album. He continues to stretch my music taste a little bit, but that’s more than welcome. Stanley Brinks & Freschard album has been out on the Bandcamp since late 2021, but it just came out on vinyl + streaming. Lovely stuff once again. I’m also very fond of the albums by Fiver, Laura Veirs and The Deslondes. New Stripmall Ballads album too. Well actually rediscovered field recording from 2016, but I love this guy and can’t wait to give this album a good spin during the coming week. The other great new ones are EP from Cataldo and album from Michelle Rivers. Laney Jones album is from May, but first time on this new music weekly because I just recently found it.

The Finnish section only have singles from Arppa and Ite Eerola, but both are absolutely wonderful. I can’t wait to hear that Ite Eerola album, because I’ve really loved the two advance singles.

Plenty of good international singles too. Big favorites are new ones from Drew Beskin, Skyway Man, Andy Jenkins and Molly Sarle, John Calvin Abney, Florist, Kimmi Bitter, Theo Lawrence, Alvvays, Angela Autumn, and Ac Sapphire. Just to name a few.

That’s all for this week. Like, share, follow and all the usual promotional nonsense. I will be at Indie-iltamat festival next weekend, so new music weekly probably won’t happen before late Sunday. But there will be one, because it’s a great release week. Willi Carlisle album is an AOTY candidate and so forth. But more about that next Sunday. Love from a distance.

Oh and do buy the vinyl/cd/download. Spotify and other streaming services are perfect for these introductory purposes, but try to buy at least the music that matter the most to you

I’ll make the playlist on Spotify and then transfer it to Tidal. This means a few tracks might be missing from the Tidal version, if they are not available on that platform. Usually it’s 1-3 tracks that are not on Tidal. There’s a bunch of older episodes on my Spotify profile, if you miss an episode or want to revisit.

If you are looking this after a week has gone, the embedded Spotify will show the latest playlist. I’ll just update the same playlist because if someone wants to follow it, they can just follow that one list and will get a new set of songs each weekend.
