OCTA New Music Weekly – Episode #277

A big release week and I didn’t really have a whole time to go through all of it. The Lostines made the album of the week closely followed by Charley Crockett and Lost Dog Street Band. There’s actually plenty of other great candidates too. We have new albums from Mike Frazier, GospelbeacH, BMX Bandits, Kathryn Williams & Withered Hand, Rural France, Andrew Gabbard (EP), Eric Slick, Rachel Love, Kyshona, Emma Geiger, Tuba Skinny, Six Organs of Admittance, Iron & Wine, Shay Martin Lovette (EP), Margaret Glaspy (EP), Kyp Harness, Tara Jane O’Neil and Ranch Hands (EP).

The Finnish release of the week is the new Samae Koskinen album. It’s a thought-provoking and direct protest album and beyond that, it is also warm-hearted and empathetic. Absolutely love all of it. There’s also great new albums from Modem and Sumukuu plus an EP from STINAKO. New singles from Kaksipäinen Koira, Susanna Leppänen, Mr.Dad, Ari Siikasaari, Pambikallio, Ptak and Niina Annika. Too Slow and Nuoruus have singles streaming, but those are cuts from a split EP that can be found from Bandcamp.

The international singles are bit buried at the end, because there were so many album releases. There’s plenty of awesome ones though. New Anna Tivel is the song of the week. Other early faves came from Curtis McMurtry, Florist, Marina Allen, The While, Giant Day, Laughing, Pearl Charles, Noelle & The Deserters… again just to name a few.

That’s all for now. Like, share, follow and all the usual promotional nonsense. It all matters. Back next week. Until then. Love.

A few Bandcamp cuts for the lovely non-streamers:

Oh and do buy the vinyl/cd/download. Spotify and other streaming services are perfect for these introductory purposes, but try to buy at least the music that matter the most to you

I’ll make the playlist on Spotify and then transfer it to other platforms. This means a few tracks might be missing from the from the other platforms, if they are not available there. Oh and there’s a bunch of older episodes on my Spotify profile, if you miss an episode or want to revisit.

If you are looking this after a week has gone, the embedded Spotify will show the latest playlist. I’ll just update the same playlist because if someone wants to follow it, they can just follow that one list and will get a new set of songs each weekend.
