A very late edition of the new music weekly, because I was away for the weekend and only got back about 9pm on Sunday. Probably missed a lot, but here’s what I managed to put together.

Flora Hibberd, Chris Lyons and SOFTJAW can share the album of the week honors. They all hit a bit different places on this onechordnet spectrum, but all are equally wonderful. There’s also great new albums from Exploding Hearts, Alien Boy, Kelley Stoltz, Winter McQuinn & Acacia Pip (EP), Charlie Parr, Sadurn, Nive Nielsen & The Deer Children (a week old, but missed it then), Chloe Kimes, Spencer Burton, Jesse Daniel, Jack Barksdale (EP), The Tender Things, Eels, Darlin’ Brando (EP), @, Jonathan Something, Charissa Hoffman, Andy Shauf (bonus EP for 10 years anniversary of The Party), Ruby Gill, June McDoom, Arborist, Darren Hayman, Firestations, Pardoner, Sunday Mourners (EP), Dropkick, fish narc and Babe Lewis.

The Finnish part is really strong this time around. In fact, the album I’ve listened by far the most is a Finnish one. This is the new Ruissalo Amping album and I’m borderline obsessed with it. Such a beautiful album and definitely extremely highly recommended. Another huge album release too from long time favorite Amuri. Other Finnish gems this week are albums from Hyvät Hevoset, Eidetic Dreams and Martti Vesala Soundpost Quintet, EP from Joy Duran plus singles from Maustetytöt, Radio Supernova, Trees and Lotta Svart.

International single of the week is the new one from Shane Leonard. I love both his own music and production work for others. Great to hear his own stuff after a while. First single sounds marvellous. Album due out in 2027. Other early faves came from Vincent Neil Emerson, Steady Holiday, Hello Emerson, The Burning Hell, Frances Vargas, Lou Turner.. again just to name a few.

Another week, another new music weekly.

International single of the week is the new Sylvie. I just love that kind of stuff. A year of Sylvie (and Alex Amen). Also great to hear new music from Rachel Toups. It’s been a while. The new SOFTJAW song is also another pretty perfect pop gem. Some other early faves came from Izaak Opatz, St. Yuma, Blumi, Kacy Lee Anderson.. again just to name a few.

Another week, another new music weekly. Another little rushed Sunday edition. Sorry for all the good stuff that I forgot or didn’t even knew existed.

There’s new albums from Animal Piss, It’s Everywhere, Greg Freeman, Gizmo, Lily Seabird (full album now streaming), Stef Chura, Ruby and the Clumsy Dollies (this one is from April, I discovered it a month or two ago thanks to Tasmanian record store Suffragette Records and liked it a lot. I don’t think I featured it here before, so let’s do that now. Oh and give Suffragette a follow on Instagram. Great store celebrating music by women and they always have good recommendations), Paint Fumes (EP), David Myhr, Kate Bollinger (EP), Kimaya Diggs, Vanishing Twin, Andy Boay, Libby Dale, Joan Kelsey (EP), My Guardian Angel, David Miner, Red McAdam and Rising Appalachia.

The big one from Finland for me is the new Leija Lautamaja single. Love her songwriting and the solo debut was the album of the year here in 2024. I can’t wait to hear the new album. The first single Rebekka is out now and sounds absolutely wonderful. A couple of big album releases too from Litku Klemetti, A.Takalo and Morimus along with an EP From Bleak Moments and singles from Modem, Stinako & Njet Njet 9 and Saaramaija Zorawski.

Some early faves in the international singles part came from Willi Carlisle, Jeffrey Silverstein, Sam Burton, Martha O’Brien, King Husky, Zoe Fox and the Rocket Clocks, Panamint, Hayden, Max Bien Kahn, The Olivia Tremor Control, Schaefer Llana, Drew Beskin & The Sunshine, Murphy Campbell… again just to name a few.
