Another super late vacation edition of the new music weekly. It’s also very likely that I will skip the next aka midsummer weekend and just cover two weeks with the next one on the weekend of 27th-28th of June. Because first it’s midsummer and I also have to go back to the day job on Sunday. So there’s not much time next weekend. Therefore I also included a couple of singles from this current week on this one. But let’s stop the rambling and get to the new music.

New Alex Amen is the album the week. He made OCTA EP of the year in 2025 and I’ve been eagerly waiting this debut album. Wonderful stuff if you like 70s west coast folk/country kinda thing. Or just good music. Beautiful album. That Yea-Ming and the Rumours on the other hand is an amazing pop album. One of my faves of the year on that side of the onechordnet spectrum. Steven van Betten and Ruth Garbus albums also rule my world and can’t wait to give them more of my time. And there’s more of course. The week gave us new albums from Dakota Theim, Joe Abbott, Max Knouse, Ismay, Shabason & Krgovich, John Southworth, Jessica Lea Mayfield, Fruit Bats, Sam Cello, Courtney Hartman, Ward Hayden & Greg Hall (EP) and Tim Barry.

Lots of great Finnish singles too. Some early faves there came from V.Härkönen, Ruissalo Amping, Janne Tapion Sisäinen Avaruus and The New Tigers, but there’s plenty of others too. We have new ones from Kurja Valentin, ZAIDA, Pietarin Spektaakkeli, Litku Klemetti, Vellamo, Karlo Haapiainen & Varaslähtö, Moonwards, French Films, Gim Kordon, Juhlat and Katujen äänet. Also one album from Tarkkis. That’s from late April, but I missed it at the time. A good one if you are into punk rock.

Early favorites on the international singles category came from American Aquarium, William Matheny, Adam Amram, Twilark, Two Runner, Jude Brothers, Creekbed Carter Hogan, Otis Gibbs, Blaine Todd, Alex Dupree, The Bird Calls, Elanor Moss, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Styrofoam Winos… again just to name a few.

A very late Monday edition of the new music weekly. I think it will be like this for the next few weeks, because I’m on vacation from the day job and have a lot of plans for the weekends, but little less for the early weekdays. It’s possible that I will miss one completely, but more likely is that these take place Monday/Tuesday for the next few weeks. Oh and my Apple Music subscription ran out, so this is not there anymore. Apologies for the few people who followed me there. It’s possible that it will return soon-ish, because I might need to finally upgrade my trusted iPhone 13 mini and if I go with a new one instead of a refurbished one, some free months might come with the phone. So we’ll see.

Joshua Ray Walker and Jordan Lee King can share the album of the week honor this week. Also really excited about the Greg Mendez album, but haven’t listened the whole album yet. Sioui, Keyland, Susto Stringband, Leeroy Stagger, Nathan Evans Fox, Luke Francis (EP) and The Pendulum Hearts (EP).

The biggest Finnish release week is not streaming, but it’s definitely worth a mention or parade that there’s a new Wojciech album in the world. Check it out on Bandcamp for now. CDs also available directly from the band or 8raita record store. Other Finnish gems this week are album from Mutka and singles from Jani Matti Juhani, Michael Bleu, Topi Saha, Lempi Elo, Kanerva, Markus Perttula, Drug Dog and Raivo Jackson.
