Back to the weekly weekend editions of the new music weekly. Of course there might still be some summer activity that pushes this into late Sunday night, but I try to keep this going. I will miss one in August during the Stockholm Roots festival, but there’s still almost two months to that. This one tries to tackle the new music of the last two weeks, so it’s a long one and I probably still missed a lot of stuff. I’ve also spent a lot of time following NHL draft and trade activity and the football World Cup so music has been a bit on the backburner, but here’s what I managed to put together.
New Leah Senior is the album of the week(s). I’ve been a fan for a long time and this is again wonderful. A new one for me is Jacob Ungerleider, but I instantly loved it. Styrofoam Winos, American Aquarium and Sequoia also big ones for me early on. But there’s plenty that I haven’t really listened in full yet. We have new albums from Andrew Sa, Jack M. Senff & The Heartland Mission, Shlomo Franklin, Jeb Loy Nichols, Sad Daddy, The Mellons, Fuses, River Shook, Travesura (EP), Jesper Lindell, Dominique and the Diamonds, Tasha, Icarus Phoenix (EP), Paul Otteson, J.J. Swinn, The Hanging Stars and Tucker Zimmerman.
From the Finnish side of things we have new albums from Us and Draamakuu (well Draamakuu was 12.6 release date) plus singles from Samae Koskinen, Nicholas Francett, Hanhani, Hal Wickman, Joy Duran, Miika Leivo and Wojciech (Wojciech album available on CD/Bandcamp, but another song streaming now too).
Some early faves on the international single category came from Josaleigh Pollett & Crowd Shy, Mac Cornish, Cinder Well, Le Ren, Flora Hibberd, Mose Wilson & Hannah Juanita, Tre Burt, Johanna Samuels, Mr. Husband, DUM1, Rambling Nicholas Heron… again just to name a few.
