Back at this normal routine. I spent the last weekend in Sweden at Stockholm Roots Festival and therefore this one tries to cover the new music of the last two weeks. This is again longer than anyone will listen even though I deliberately left out some singles not to mention all the stuff I simply missed. One would think it would easier for me to do this biweekly or monthly, but there’s always so much new music that two weeks at once feels overwhelming and therefore I prefer the weekly schedule. Anyway, here’s what I managed to put together.
New Le Ren can be the album of the week(s), because I’ve been a fan for years and this new album is again gorgeous. There’s also 36 other great new albums / EPs here from Elanor Moss, The Bird Calls, Two Runner, Mama’s Broke, Blaine Todd, Riley Downing, Son Volt, The Jayhawks, Billy Strings, Kimmi Bitter, James Steinle, Jess Parker, Laurelyn Dossett, Ken Pomeroy (cover EP), Sera Cahoone, David Quinn, Ned Collette, Dogwood Tales, Lambchop, Asher White, Graham Hunt, The Afghan Whigs, Dinosaur Jr, Squirrel Flower, The Bures Band, Natalie Wildgoose (EP), Black Duck with Elena Setien, Josh Gilligan, Shredded Sun, M G Boulter & Jenny Sturgeon, Hannes Aitman, Chris Pierce, Tony Hannah, Alicia Blue, Jason McNiff and Crow vs Lion. That took a while to write a lion let alone listen.
The highlight of the Finnish part of this the wonderful new Laura Moisio single. Also very fond of new V.Härkönen, The High Tydes and Ullalintulampi singles. Other Finnish gems of the past two weeks are albums from SATANEN and Neiti Aika plus singles from Bizzarro & Jukka Nissinen, Hamina, Tomi Puukko, Eidetic Dreams, Vet Pillows, Lempi Elo, Eereka & Miika Leivo and Figaro.
A lot of gold on the international singles too. Some early faves came from Chris Lyons, Ian Noe, Izaak Opatz, Jeffrey Silverstein, Michael Nau, Mac Cornish, Pug Johnson, Willi Carlisle, The Goods, Steady Holiday, Claire Cronin.. again just to name a few. I have lot of listening to do.
