Another weekend of live music, so only got into this one on Sunday afternoon. Here’s what I managed to put together.
Ian Noe made the album of the week and possibly year. I’ve only scratched the surface so far, but I’m really loving it. There’s also new albums from Mac Cornish, Jude Brothers, Pony Bradshaw, Wil Cope, The Male Pattern, Emmett Morris, Homework, Renny Conti, Julia Jacklin, The Reds, Pinks and Purples (EP), Weaver (not sure is this a mistake, because I thought this was a October release. But if it vanishes I’ll feature it again then), Humbird, Mary Gauthier, Renny Conti, Noel McKay, Bill Baird, Darryl Kissick, Maya Elise & The Good Dream (EP), M.Sage (EP), Finnish Postcard, Harmony Index and Hermanos Gutierrez.
The Finnish release week is a big one. Absolutely love the new Laura Moisio and Hulda Huima albums. Also really dig the new Tero-Petri & Korvaamattomat single. Knipi’s new album also most likely wonderful, but I haven’t listened the whole thing yet. Other Finnish gems are albums from Remoted and Aikapyörä plus singles from Nina Kaitaranta and Jlaine & Sepänkadun köyhät & nöyryytetyt.
New Dead Gowns can be the international single of the week. Also love the new SOFTJAW single. Another pop gem from the Dandy Boy Records vaults. Other early faves came from Michael Nau, Alex Izenberg, Lou Turner, Jacksonport, Chris Lyons.. again just to name a few.
