Viljami Kukkonen – Joko lähdetään (video)

viljami

Viljami Kukkonen has a new music video for the song Joko lähdetään. It’s an outtake from his 2015 album Jos rakkaus tapahtuu, which was my favourite Finnish album of that year. Jos rakkaus tapahtuu is a finally getting a vinyl release as well. So if you didn’t purchase a copy just because you don’t care for those compact disc thingies anymore, there are no reasons to hold back now. The album is gorgeous and there will be a special church concert to celebrate the vinyl release of it. It will take place at Finlaysonin Kirkko, Tampere on the 11th of November. Check out Viljami’s FB for more information. Here’s the new video for the song Joko lähdetään. It was directed by Teemu Niukkanen.

Delay Trees – Brightest Eyes (single/video)

img_0022

I bet you didn’t expect to find Finnish pop music when you came to this website, but here it is and it’s rather spectacular as well. The new Delay Trees album Let Go is coming out in 2017 on Soliti Music, but the first single and outtake from the forthcoming album is already out, available and ready to drop into your heart. The song is called Brightest Eyes and it sounds mighty good.

Itä-Hollola Installaatio – Tyttöystävä (single)

img_0019

I don’t even seem to have enough time to listen to music let alone write about it. Well other than this short midnight entry about Itä-Hollola Installaatio, because I freaking love this so much. New single Tyttöystävä is out now on Sound Of Finland. You can hear that beauty on any of those stream thingies. It’s damn good and some of the other stuff that is on Youtube and Bandcamp is even better. Whether it’s the band or Robert Ensio Niemistö solo, it’s all so good. Why the hell it took me so long to start listening to this kid? The man is like a genius.

Iron Country Sisters & Applewood Road

img_0017

New and and excellent Finnish roots music. Iron Country Sisters is a name that actually should have been mentioned on these pages over a year ago. I saw them at Korjaamo, Helsinki when they were supporting the great Canadian Daniel Romano and I really liked what I heard. The songs were good and the singing, well that was just brilliant. I really could listen to them sing all day long. The first single Lonely Tune has been out for a while. I hope we will get to hear an EP or a full-length album sometime in the not-too-distant future.

If you like Iron Country Sisters, I highly recommend the Applewood Road album that came early in the year. They also deliver beautiful folk, country sounds in 3-part harmonies. Applewood Road is Emily Barker, Amber Rubarth and Amy Speace and the self-titled Applewood Road album is a beauty.
