Future States – Heaven / Bugaboo (single)

One of my latest music obsessions has been this single by Future States and especially the song Bugaboo (Heaven is great too). I first heard it over at The Wild Honey Pie and instantly loved it. This beautifully arranged pop song is now out as digital single and was released by Golden Brown. I definitely need to investigate the back catalogue, because these Canadians seem to master this art of making rich and warm-sounding pop songs. Sort of takes me back ten years to the time when I was heavily into things like The Heavy Blinkers discography and the debut full-length Animal Bells from the Australian pop wizards The Crayon Fields. What a fabulous pop song.

Matti Jasu – The Money Pit

Finnish songwriter Matti Jasu is working on a new full-length album that is due out later in 2018. The first single from the forthcoming album is called The Money Pit and sounds mighty good. Grab a name-your-price download of the new single from his Bandcamp. Oh and all the older (should-be) hit records are there as well, if you want to dig deeper into the Matti Jasu song vault.

Erin Rae – Can’t Cut Loose

More major news on the OCTA scale. Single Lock Records will release a new Erin Rae album Putting On Airs on the 8th of June and a new single Can’t Cut Loose is already available. Nashville-based Erin Rae is a great songwriter and she has a remarkably beautiful and engaging singing voice. Album outtake Wild Blue Wind was one of the finest songs of the year 2017 and Like The First Time and this latest single are almost as brilliant. I can’t wait to hear the whole thing in June. Here’s the new single Can’t Cut Loose.

Michael Feuerstack – Nobody Knows (song/video)

This spring is going to special. The release schedule just looks incredible. I need to quit my day job to be able to properly feature all of them. Unfortunately I can’t, because this doesn’t pay the bills. In fact it costs a little bit of money and a whole lot of time to make this. Anyway, there’s absolutely nothing to complain about, because a really significant amount of most likely brilliant albums will be released in April/May and I couldn’t be happier about that.

The forthcoming album from Montreal-based songwriter Michael Feuerstack is one the albums that I’m really excited about. Natural Weather is due out 25th of May on Forward Music Group and I’m 100% sure that it’s going to be a great one. More about it in May/June when I’ve heard it, but here’s the excellent first outtake and video for the song Nobody Knows.
