2018 Spotify Playlist

I started making a 2018 playlist. I guess just for keeping a tab on things and to justify paying for the Spotify premium as an addition to the gazillion I already spend on vinyl, cd and download. It won’t be a definite best of 2018 or that important really, but I thought I drop it here as well in case someone wants to follow it. I don’t really even have a clear plan what it will turn out to be. Perhaps some kind of monster that is constantly changing as more songs and albums come available. Often I tend to prefer an album cut over the single, so first there might be a single and then I change it to my favorite album cut later on. As an addition to this I might do some kind of monthly or quarterly playlist that will stay the same once posted. There will be no order, other than that I put my two biggest song addictions on top. Untitled God Song by Haley Heynderickx and May Your Kindness Remain by Courtney Marie Andrews.

Nap Eyes – Every Time the Feeling

There’s a new Nap Eyes album on the horizon. I’m Bad Now is due out on 9th of March, co-released by You’ve Changed Records (Canada) and Paradise of Bachelors (USA/Europe). I’m a big of these Canadian kindred spirits to The Rollstons. I might be the only one, but whenever I listen to them, I hear a small resemblance to the great Finnish indie rock band. Anyway, Nap Eyes are a brilliant band and I’m thrilled that in a few months, I’ll have a chance to hear a new collection of their weirdly spellbinding indie rock. The first outtake Every Time the Feeling is already out and available and you can hear it below.

Will Stewart – Sipsey

Will Stewart is a folk rock, americana songwriter from Birmingham, AL and he is about to release a new solo album County Seat. The first single from the forthcoming album is an excellent nostalgic and reflective beauty called Sipsey and I’m very fond of it. County Seat will be released by Cornelius Chapel Records on the 6th April and I will return to it on the release week or thereabouts.

Willie Breeding – Prague Spring (feat. Caitlin Rose)

Willie Breeding is a Nashville-based songwriter who is about to release his debut album Big Sky. The first outtake from the forthcoming album is called Prague Spring and he co-wrote it with the great Caitlin Rose. It’s a beautiful song and a lovingly told story about his wife’s parents, Italian ambassador and Czech actress, meeting in Prague back in 1962.
