Birthday party continues in Oakland, CA with Natural Bridges and its frontman Matthew Johnson. They’ve been one of the new finds of 2019 for me and lately I’ve been listening and loving both their new 2019 album Residual Daydreams and their 2013 album Good Medicine. I suppose it’s no wonder, because while looking at their press release for the new album it closely resembles the foundation of my music taste. Brian Wilson, Big Star, 70s folk rock, soul and so forth. It’s a really sweet album and I love it to bits. The songwriter Matthew Johnson appears on our festival with an acoustic version of a song called Ronnie’s in Bed. Listen to the studio version too at Bandcamp, because if I had a saying this would be a radio hit on every station.
