OCTA New Music Weekly – Episode #344

A bit of a rough week after the flu. Returned to work on Wednesday, but just kind of tried to get through the week. A weekend of rest was desperately needed. But I did listen to some music, so here’s what I managed to put together.

Katie Spencer made the album of the week. Also very fond of the new albums from Brennen Leigh, The Deep Dark Woods and Wharfer. Other big album releases came from Caitlin Canty, Nicki Bluhm, Weirs (a bit tough one for playlist purposes, because 20 minute version of Lord Bateman might cut the flow a little bit), Pony Gold, Wil Cope (EP), Rambling Nicholas Heron, Kashena Sampson, Moonrun, Caleb Nichols, Creative Writing, Rainwater, Ryan Allen and His Extra Men, Travesura (a couple weeks old) and Daniel Romano’s Outfit (ep/single).

New Tinyhawk & Bizzarro album is the highlight of the Finnish part of this. Other album great is from Cleaning Women. Several wonderful singles too. A new Hattara single is always special to me and Una Harnett that you may know from Sepänkadun Köyhät & Nöyryytetyt has a beautiful solo single for example. Other gems are from Poni, Sonja Selene, Torrances, Longing Louisa, Lodger and Anna Inginmaa.

International single of the week is the new from Alice George Perez. I’m really looking forward to her album, because I’ve loved both singles. Other early favorites came from Andres Miguel Cervantes, Leanne Betasamosake Simpson, Julianna Riolino, Parlor Greens (Jolene cover), James McCann, Avry Truex, Nathan Seeckts… again just to name a few.

That’s all for now. Like, share, follow and all the usual promotional nonsense. It all matters. Back next week with another of these. Love.

A few Bandcamp cuts for the lovely non-streamers:

Oh and do buy the vinyl/cd/download. Spotify and other streaming services are perfect for these introductory purposes, but try to buy at least the music that matter the most to you

I’ll make the playlist on Spotify and then transfer it to other platforms. This means a few tracks might be missing from the from the other platforms, if they are not available there. Oh and there’s a bunch of older episodes on my Spotify profile, if you miss an episode or want to revisit.
