Another weekend full of live music and therefore the recorded music was on the backburner until Sunday morning. But here’s what I managed to put together.
The Lemon Twigs made the album of the week. There’s also new album froms Rural France, Beefheart & McQuinn, Ellen Froese, Nora Kenny, India Ramey, Matthew Logan Vasquez, Trey Burnart Hall, Trippers & Askers, Nicholas Krgovich, Michael A. Muller, Michaela Anne, Nick Dittmeier & The Sawdusters, Gun Outfit, Stormen Gudrun (Swedish power pop etc, a month old but saw them live last week and loved them), Abigail Lapell, Sumos, Aldous Harding, Age of Peace (another bit older, saw it on the great New Commute and liked it).
The big one from Finland is the wonderful new joku iiris album. Other Finnish gems are singles from Viljami Kukkonen, Hanhani, Viivi Rättyä, Bonuslapsi, Yakuzi Pato and Mitä helvettiä nyt taas.
New Sam Gelband can be the international single of the week. There’s actually several beautiful singles already available, but I had missed them because I hadn’t the noticed the name change. He used to release music under the name Mr. Sam & The People People, so the new stuff under his own name flew under my radar. Other early faves came from Thomas Dollbaum, The Pintos, Haylie Davis, Mac Cornish, J.W. Ricci, Gina Leslie, Scott Ballew, Caleb Caudle, Lambchop, Bedouine… again just to name a few.
