Another late Sunday edition, because I’ve been going to live concerts three nights in a row. A huge release week once again. I may have to throw in the towel when it’s time to do the AOTY list. Well I know I won’t, but it will be extremely hard because there’s so much great music.
I’ve barely listened full albums yet so Joan Shelley, John Calvin Abney and Jesse Lovelock can split the album of the week honors. All seem gorgeous on quick listen. But there’s a whole lot of others too and in the end my favorite might even be something else. There’s new albums available from Dylan Earl, The Pink Stones, Otis Gibbs, Winter McQuinn, Wilder Maker, Kyle Cox, Kitba, Janet Simpson, Jesse Summers, Generifus, Frog, The Cowboys, Wednesday, The Prize, Black Guy Fawkes, Everett Parker, Malin Pettersen, Joe Nolan, Cruise Control, David Robert Pollock and Jim Bryson (EP). I made even two cover collages and still couldn’t fit them all in.
My favorite part is still the Finnish section, because there’s a new Kristiina album and they’ve been one of my absolute favorite bands in the world during the last few years. Another huge one is the debut album from A.Reikko & Kaupungin ääni. Also tipping my hat for Topi Saha for powerful cover version of Mikko Perkoila’s song Säästön hinta. To round up the Finnish part of this, we have great albums from Aili Järvelä and Juppe plus a single from Susanna Leppänen. Update: Yikes, forgot the comeback single from all-time favorite Sweatmaster. Already shared it on my social media earlier, but somehow managed to not include it here. Shame on me. But it’s there now.
International single of the week will be split between long time favorite Courtney Marie Andrews and new favorite Mia Wilson. Oh that Mia Wilson album is going to be special, if the whole thing is as amazing as these first two singles. Other early favorites came from Wharfer, Nick Shoulders, Norma Dream, Mariel Buckley… again just to name a few.
That’s all for now. Like, share, follow and all the usual promotional nonsense. It all matters. A reminder that Caleb Caudle and The Sweet Critters will be in Finland next week. Therefore I will be in Helsinki on Saturday and this will again take place late on Sunday. Unless I’m too worn out and tired after the travel. Always amazed how bands cope with the travel. I’m easily worn out after a couple days in a city two hours away and they can do months long tours with long drives each day. Tough job. But yeah until next Sunday unless we meet in Helsinki on Saturday. Love.

A few Bandcamp cuts for the lovely non-streamers:
Oh and do buy the vinyl/cd/download. Spotify and other streaming services are perfect for these introductory purposes, but try to buy at least the music that matter the most to you
I’ll make the playlist on Spotify and then transfer it to other platforms. This means a few tracks might be missing from the from the other platforms, if they are not available there. Oh and there’s a bunch of older episodes on my Spotify profile, if you miss an episode or want to revisit.
