Another late Sunday edition of the new music weekly, because I spent the weekend in Helsinki. Lemonator and The Sugarrush shared the stage and it was perfect nostalgic blast. Loved every minute of it. A very fitting start to this birthday week too, because onechordnet hits 25 years next Saturday and this blog probably wouldn’t exist without those two bands. Years have added various (especially rootsy) layer to this, but Finnish guitar pop / power pop band was where this all started. Anyway, back to the quarter of a century celebration on Thursday, if I manage to put together some blog post for that. Here’s the new music of the week.
There’s new albums from Angela Autumn, Twilark, Starpainter, Jon McKiel, The Tubs, Joel Cusumano (EP), Josephine Network (I missed the earlier 2026 album which is wonderful too, but there’s already another one), The Jimmy C, Motorcycle (missed this a week ago), Stephen Egerton, David Faul (also a week old), Jason James, Pokey LaFarge, Ali Holder (EP), Sara Beth Go (EP, also a week old), CJ Wiley (EP), Misha Panfilov, Valerie June (EP), Eli “Paperboy” Reed and Jake Sheppard.
Finnish part has albums from Lintudisko and Viivi Rättyä, EP from Perkeet and singles from Tero-Petri & Korvaamattomat, Ruissalo Amping, Hanhani feat Markus Perttula, Gim Kordon, M and Maa Ilmasta.
International single of the week came from Sylvie feat Alex Amen. I can’t wait to hear the new Sylvie album. Don’t lock your AOTY ballots too early, because that beauty comes out in early November. Some other early faves came from Craig Benedict Valentine Badynee, Moby Beefheart, Jude Brothers, Flora Hibberd, Clara Man, Teenage Fanclub, Margo Cilker, Charlie Kaplan.. again just to name a few.
