I don’t know much about Joutomies Aleksei. Only that it’s a folk group from my old hometown Jyväskylä and they have some great songs on myspace. I was just browsing through myspace tonight and somehow ended up listening to their music and instantly liked it.. and by the time I heard Kolmipäinen Koira I was almost in love with it.
Classic albums – The Wonderminers
I’m guessing that both this documentary and the upcoming album are future classics. The Wonderminers is Petri Nakari’s (Red Carpet, Sister Flo etc) new band with all the usual suspects as his sidekicks and partners in crime. Well if you can call making perfect pop music a crime. The Wonderminers album will be stunning..

Delay Trees
After their really good self-released Soft Construction EP, Delay Trees signed a deal with Johanna Kustannus and their first full-length album is due out in september. The first single is called Cassette 2012 and you can download it from their website. And it’s free. “Tender pop songs that will melt your ears” says their website and that’s pretty accurate. I have high hopes that the album could be both brilliant and still sell quite well.

News: Nopat 7″
Truly wonderful news and it took me several weeks to write about it. Debut release by Nopat has been out and available for a few weeks. It’s a seven inch single Yksinäisten tiet / Rauhaton and I love it to bits. Nopat is a fairly new band, but these boys have given us some fabulous pop music with their earlier groups such as Leaky Soles, Red Carpet and Nopat continues on the same level of excellence. Think of younger finnish version of Mojave 3 (Excuses For Travellers -era) or Luna for example. Well better not to think anything that I have to say and just listen to this beautiful a-side of the single below.
