Margo Price – Midwest Farmer’s Daughter

margoo

Major news for the fans of country music. Margo Price will release an album later this month. I kept on stumbling upon the name Margo Price a few years ago when I was searching for new country artists. The name often popped up when I was reading about someone like Cale Tyson, but it was difficult to find the music. This is now about to change big time, because Third Man Records will release Margo’s debut Midwest Farmer’s Daughter on 25th of March.

I’m not sure will I get crucified, if I say that perhaps I haven’t been that enthusiastic about the first single Hurtin’ (on the Bottle). I like it. I like it even a lot, but it still wasn’t anything that special to me. However, I really love the other two outtakes About To Find You and this Hands Of Time that just surfaced a few days ago. This is such a brilliant song and I’m so eager to hear the whole thing in a few weeks time.

And here’s the music video for the first single Hurtin’ (On The Bottle).

Sam Moss – Fable

sammoss

Sam Moss has a new album Fable coming out in May. I don’t know too much about this Boston-based folk troubadour and criminally I don’t even own his older records. A couple of years ago I listened to some of his songs that I really liked and I’ve just been following him since that. So basicly I’ve had an initial interest towards his music, but I haven’t really taken further steps towards getting to know him properly. I think this has to change in May when his new album drops into my heart. The album opener Postman is on his Bandcamp and I think it’s absolutely brilliant. I also found a good live video for another album track Walking The Line and that is equally amazing. The man can write songs and deliver them beautifully with his sweet voice and excellent guitar playing. I can’t wait to hear the whole thing. You can pre-order to the album from either his bandcamp page or from this indiegogo campaign. This is Postman from the forthcoming Sam Moss album Fable.

And here’s live video of Walking The Line recorded by The Listening Party. You can also find a live video of Postman and a lot of other good videos from other artists from their website http://www.listeningpartyshows.com/

Frontier Ruckus – Sad Modernity (video)

frontierruckus

Something to watch while waiting for the fifth Frontier Ruckus album to drop into our hearts later in 2016. There’s a new music video for the song Sad Modernity that is an outtake from their previous masterwork Sitcom Afterlife. Frontier Ruckus and Cheers. Now that’s my kind of combination. Recently Frontier Ruckus has pretty much been my favourite band in the world. Partly because my all-time favourites The Posies and Teenage Fanclub haven’t released anything new in a while (but both will later this year, so there will be some tough competition for Ruckus. Not that music is a competition). Anyway, this is all for now. This is Sad Modernity. Cheers.

Nada Surf – Rushing (video)

image

Time to take a step backwards and get to back to the basics of my music taste. Ok, Nada Surf might not be one of the most important bands in my life, but I’ve listened and loved them for fifteen years or so. Especially Let Go is a perfect album in my books and even just the whole idea of having Nada Surf around to comfort me makes a few clouds dissappear. It’s always love when they are around and I love them for it.

Nada Surf just released a new album You Know Who You Are and it’s another great addition to their catalogue of the finest kind of melodic pop music. My early favourite has been this song called Rushing. Perhaps partly because of this cute video. Watching it makes me love life and all the other cliches that might sound naiive, but are still true. I found out that Matthew Caws co-wrote this one with Dan Wilson so that might be another reason why I’m feeling strangely fine while listening to it. This is Rushing from the new Nada Surf album that is now out on Barsuk/City Slang.
