Nada Surf – Rushing (video)

Time to take a step backwards and get to back to the basics of my music taste. Ok, Nada Surf might not be one of the most important bands in my life, but I’ve listened and loved them for fifteen years or so. Especially Let Go is a perfect album in my books and even just the whole idea of having Nada Surf around to comfort me makes a few clouds dissappear. It’s always love when they are around and I love them for it.

Nada Surf just released a new album You Know Who You Are and it’s another great addition to their catalogue of the finest kind of melodic pop music. My early favourite has been this song called Rushing. Perhaps partly because of this cute video. Watching it makes me love life and all the other cliches that might sound naiive, but are still true. I found out that Matthew Caws co-wrote this one with Dan Wilson so that might be another reason why I’m feeling strangely fine while listening to it. This is Rushing from the new Nada Surf album that is now out on Barsuk/City Slang.

Andy Shauf – The Party (20th of May)

image

Some fabulous release news arrived today and because I’m really excited about this, I have to make an early shout out about it. Canadian songwriter Andy Shauf recently signed with ANTI- (US/Europe) and Arts & Crafts (Canada) and these lovely labels will release his new album The Party on 20th of May. The first outtake The Magician from the forthcoming album is also now out and available and as expected it sounds spectacular. I can’t wait to hear the whole thing. Andy Shauf is a brilliant storyteller and songwriter. Beautifully akward characters going through the little adventures of their lives in forms of masterfully arranged folk songs. The Bearer of Bad News was a great record that I still listen to and I’m sure the new one is going to be even better. This is The Magician from the forthcoming album.

Cale Tyson – Somebody Save Me (video)

Cale Tyson’s new album Careless Soul is coming out on Clubhouse Records in April. This is UK/Europe release. I’m not sure when it’s out in the states or for the indiegogo backers like myself. Anyway, it’s out soon enough for everyone to enjoy, love, get engaged with and marry.

I’m very eager to hear what Cale Tyson has to offer this time around. I’m a big fan of his early EPs that were filled with wonderful traditional country music. Cheater’s Wine was even my EP of the year a while back. I know that Cale has taken a slightly different route and Careless Soul will be a country-soul record that was recorded at FAME studios. I’m not least bit worried though and I’m sure that even though the route is somewhat modified, the new Cale Tyson songs will reach the same destination as the old ones, the core of my heart. Before getting too cheesy (too late I’m afraid), let’s stop this pointless rambling and let the man sing a song. This is Somebody Save Me from the forthcoming Cale Tyson album Careless Soul.

Woody Pines – Anything For Love (video)

woodypines

Another quick video post. I know there’s some really important releases that I need to cover like the new Austin Lucas and Caleb Caudle albums and I will get to them hopefully sometime soon. However, my spare time is limited and these little posts are a way to keep the blog going on. And of course these are still important and significant. I mean Woody Pines. Who doesn’t love Woody Pines? Hillbilly boogie, ragtime, vintage roots music etc. Irresistible stuff. The self-titled Woody Pines album came out last year on Muddy Roots Recordings and now they put together a music video for the song Anything For Love. Anything for you Woody. Take it away:
