Video of the Day #129: Talmud Beach

talmudbeachi

Talmud Beach and their self-titled debut album kind of flew under my radar last year. Therefore this new music video Time On Highway 5 directed by James Tuovinen was a welcome eye opener. After watching this thing several times during the past two months, I’m more than ready to jump on this loose train. People outside Finland can soon follow my path, because the excellent Bone Voyage Recording Company is currently working on the European release of this album. Time On Highway 5 goes like this.

Video of the Day #127: The Wicked Whispers

wickedwhispers

I’ve liked this british psychedelic folk/pop group called The Wicked Whispers from the start and I think I’ve posted each and every one of their videos to the blog. No need to change the policy, because Voodoo Moon is another gem. The vinyl (and digital) single Voodoo Moon was released by Electone Records on 22nd of april. So I’m a bit late to this ball game, but I can catch up by watching this great video ten times in a row.

Video of the Day #125: Dietrich Strause

dietrich

I’ve been kind of bad at updating lately, so I don’t think I’ve posted about the greatness of Dietrich Strause. I found him few months back and have been keeping an ear on ever since. He just had a succesful kickstarter and will release a new album later in the year. While waiting I can listen to this song Lemonade Springs over and over again. I don’t know will it feature on the upcoming album, but it’s certainly a well crafted and beautifully delivered folk song. I also have to post the song Annie Dear, because not-to-post-it would just feel criminal. Such a damn fine song as well. Boston-based Dietrich Strause is a very gifted songwriter and I have really high hopes for the upcoming album. This is Lemonade Springs.

Video of the Day #124: The High Learys

highlearys

Hurricane Fighter Plane was a great young Australian band that I shortly featured on this blog a couple of times. It was sad to hear that they called it a day late last year, but there’s no need to dwell on sadness. Two Hurricane Fighter Plane members Jamie Turner and Matt Williams soon formed a new band called The High Learys and this band is equally brilliant. I’ve been following them on FB from the start, but I don’t think I’ve written about them before. There’s plenty of good reasons to finally do that now. 1) Their debut album Here Come The High Learys recently came out on the excellent Soundflat Records 2) The new video for the song Let You Down surfaced a few days ago 3) The record and the video are both pretty damn good and The High Learys do this 60s garage/R&B/beat thing extremely well.

You can listen to the whole album at bandcamp and here’s that new video Let You Down. Directed by Neil McArther.
