OCTA 18th Anniversary – Adam Remnant

Day 4 and the first half of this anniversary festival comes to an end in Athens, Ohio with a spectacular performance from singer-songwriter Adam Remnant. The former Southeast Engine frontman is making awesome solo material these days and have released an EP and a full-length album during the last few years. His contribution to this festival is the ending song Rewriting Tomorrow of his 2016 EP When I Was a Boy. You’ll find both the EP and the 2018 album Sourwood from his Bandcamp and be sure to check out his youtube channel too for other special live performances. The festival will take a day off tomorrow, because at least the organizer needs a day to sleep, recharge and setup the videos for the latter half of this anniversary week. Back in action Thursday at 7pm Finland and noon EST. I could watch this video on repeat until then. Here’s Adam Remnant playing Rewriting Tomorrow on upright piano in his home and singing it ever so beautifully.

OCTA 18th Anniversary – VanWyck

Next this international birthday celebration takes us to the Netherlands. Singer-songwriter VanWyck will release her new album Molten Rock on the 15th of November and her beautiful festival song Make Of Me is an outtake from that forthcoming album. The studio version of this wonderful song is not yet available, but you can hear the first single Supermarket Line on her bandcamp page. I would also like to use this opportunity to again recommend her powerful song Ballad of the Quiet Citizen that is a protest song written for the What the World Needs Now project. You’ll find it here.

OCTA 18th Anniversary – Janne Laurila

Next we will have an outdoor gathering in Tampere, Finland with songwriter Janne Laurila. His songs have been a part of this blog and my personal life throughout these all 18 years. In the early days his band Office Building ruled my world and I’ll carry those songs with me for as long as I breathe. Later on there’s been other equally great music adventures as Laurila (the band), Janne Laurila (solo) and Janne Laurila & Tuhlaajapojat. His song for this anniversary celebration is an unreleased song called Neljä tonnii pilvee.

OCTA 18th Anniversary – Daniel Markham

Anniversary festival continues in Denton, Texas with a great songwriter and the sweetest metalhead Daniel Markham. I’ve been a huge fan since I heard his 2014 album Pretty Bitchin’ and I’m honored to have him joining our birthday party with a brand new song called Glamorous Like Goddesses from his forthcoming album. Follow that bandcamp link to hear/buy his wonderful albums. I still need to up my metal game to enjoy Larry Legion albums, but Hyperspeed, Disintegrator, Pretty Bitchin’ and Ruined My Life are all superb.
