OCTA New Music Weekly – Episode #361

Another busy weekend and only started listening on Sunday evening. But here’s what I managed to put together.

I haven’t listened full albums yet, but Natalie Jane Hill, The Delines and Bonnie Prince Billy are the albums I’m most excited about. Anna Tivel’s EP is a special one too. Where’s Beth is a new one to me, but really enjoyed it on quick listen and look forward to listen to it more during the coming days. Some great pop albums too like Bory and Motorists etc. Other album releases came from Chet Sounds, Dust Star, Hanemoon, Eggs on Mars, Salt Lake Alley, NOVA ONE, Half Shadow (EP), Status/Non-Status, Wil Cope, Milkweed, Erin Enderlin (EP), bobbie, Dutch Interior (EP), Sammy Volkov and Jesper Lindell.

Finnish part has a new album from Sir Liselot, EP from Jafet Haaksi and singles from Ystävät, aamu aurinko, M, FER, Petra Poutanen, Tero-Petri & Korvaamattomat. All great, but I would like to especially highlight the wonderful debut single from aamu aurinko.

Early faves on the international singles category from Alex Amen, Haylie Davis, Bella White, Joshua Ray Walker, Caleb Caudle, Aldous Harding, Greg Mendez, Charlotte Cornfield, Adam Ross, Joey Quinones.. again just to name a few.

OCTA New Music Weekly – Episode #360

Another week, another new music weekly. This time also on Apple Music, because my iPhone wanted to give me two free months. But do note that this is only a temporary thing for the next two months, because I don’t have the money to pay for many services. Those things add up and I don’t get a dime for curating this. I guess if it somehow becomes popular there, I could consider keeping it but based on my few previous tries on that platform it seems extremely unlikely.

Mod Lang is the album of the week. Well actually it’s from last week but better late than never. I heard the singles actually then, but somehow assumed that the album was this week. Anyway, marvellous power pop / rock’n’roll blast. Absolutely love it. Mod Lang is not on Spotify, so there’s another good reason to make a switch to another platform. Some other big ones are albums from Bill Callahan and Jackie West and the EP from Michael Cormier-O’Leary. Other album gems came from Paper Wings, Buck Meek, The Wave Pictures, The Legal Matters, Armbruster, Heavenly, Mitski, Star Moles, Voxtrot, Market, Iron & Wine, Crooked Fingers, Zachary Lucky, Matt Mitchell Music Co (EP) and Shane Parish. Outside the streaming platforms it’s very much worth noting that Adeem the Artist has a great new album on Bandcamp. Oh yeah, and a few of those deluxe versions from Julianna Riolino, Dean Johnson and Michael Robert Murphy. Sometimes I don’t include these, but this time I did.

Finnish side of things has a great album from Anna Inginmaa and an EP from J.Matkala. Plus some singles gold from Janne Tapion Sisäinen Avaruus, Annieeva & Topi Saha, Nevala, Ghosts on TV, Antti Autio, Mikko Juvosen Kanuuna, Kurja Valentin, Mutka and Aleksi Oksanen.

New I’m Kingfisher is the international single of the week. Other early faves came from Bobby Dove, Sluice, Kevin Carducci, Corey Parsons, Opal Eskar, Dream Sitch, Chet Sounds, Roller One, Daniel Romano’s Outfit… again just to name a few.

OCTA New Music Weekly – Episode #359

Another week where new music was a little bit on the backburner. This time to due to Olympics. But here’s what I managed to put together. Either there was lot less albums than usually or I just missed a lot of stuff.

Black Sea Dahu is the album of the week. Other album gems this week came from Lammping, Tim Easton, Samantha Henson, Jeffrey Martin (live), Daily Worker and Sammy Kay (EP).

A lot of great Finnish stuff this week. Especially a lot of amazing singles. The High Tydes made a true pop gem. One of big personal favorites Viljami Kukkonen released a new song. Kielo Kärkkäinen, Krypta, Maustetytöt and Tuomas Räisänen pure gold as well. And they all are. Other singles came from Sin Cos Tan, Markus Perttula, Vilma Talvitie, Arppa & Jiri-serkku, Hot Heros & Janne Laurila, Morimus, Nina Kaitaranta and Pykäri. Also some gorgeous albums too from Akkajee, Pambikallio, kukkatalo and Asla Jo.

New Alela Diane can be the international single of the week. Other early faves came from Jobi Riccio, Libby DeCamp, Charlotte Le Lievre, The Deslondes, John Andrews & The Yawns, Jackie West, Juni Habel, Emily Nenni.. again just to name a few.

Another week, another new music weekly.

New Stripmall Ballads is the album of the week. What a special album from a long time favorite. Other great album releases came from Jeremy Ivey, Luke Norton, The Nude Party, Rubber Band Gun & Joey Joesph, Jon Danforth, Remember Sports, Gentle Brontosaurus (Thanks to Rosy Overdrive for this one), The Sky Chiefs, Rod Smoth and The Olympians.

Finnish part of this has new full lengths from Emmy June and Kissa plus singles from Plastic Tones, Telephone Romeo, Risto, Koisjärven Disko, Vilma Talvitie feat Pekko Käppi, HXA feat DJ Noofi and Hal Wickman.

International single of the week is the new Kiki Cavazos song. I usually put the singles after all album cuts on the playlist, but I made an exception here because new Kiki Cavazos songs need whatever spotlight I can give them. I look forward to hearing more.
