Danny & The Champions Of The World, Clear

danny

A couple of new UK-faves in this post. Danny & The Champions Of The World isn’t a new favourite though, because I’ve been following Danny George Wilson since the Grand Drive days and own most of his back catalogue. Danny is under the spotlight because there’s a new album Stay True coming out on Loose Music on september 16th. It’s a mighty fine album full of great UK americana. Actually it’s one of his strongest as a whole. Soulful country music of the highest order. This is Cold Cold World from the new album Stay True.

clear

Clear is something totally new to me. I just found this Sheffield-based band a few weeks ago and instantly loved this song Sunlight. Timeless pop melodies and 70s west coast influences. Sunlight goes like this.

Video of the Day #132: Frontier Ruckus

frontier

I was just listening to the Frontier Ruckus album Eternity of Dimming the other day. Which I still do regularly, because it’s a definitely a top 5 album this year and a major contender for that album of the year award. While listening I remembered that I probably haven’t posted all of their videos yet. I think it’s about time, because these songs are worth all the hearts. So here are the music videos for the songs Dealerships and Black Holes from Eternity of Dimming. It’s a double album full of great songs and it will keep you company for a long time. It’s easy to approach, but it’s also a treasure that keeps on giving. I’ve been listening to it regularly for the past 6-7 months and I still feel like my relationship with this record is at an very early stage and I’m still learning something new with every listening session.

Astrid Swan – Four Months To Kill

astridswan

Astrid Swan just released a new single Four Months To Kill. It is an outtake from her forthcoming album Astrid4, due out october 25th on Soliti Music. “A minimalist dogmatic album of piano, horns and drums” says the biography about the new album. Maybe I wouldn’t describe my favourite kind of music with that sentence. At least I wouldn’t have before I heard Astrid4. This album is very impressive and definitely my favourite Astrid Swan album. This is the new single Four Months to Kill.

Swaying Wires signs a record deal

swaying

Some great news. Excellent Finnish band Swaying Wires have signed a record deal with UK-based Battle Worldwide Recordings. They are also playing a showcase concert in London on November 9th. I look forward to some new Swaying Wires songs. The first demos almost two years ago were already pretty amazing and I’m quite sure they have gotten even better since those days. This is Bluebird.
