Treehouse – Top to Bottom

Treehouse will release their debut album Top to Bottom later this year and based on the samples I’ve heard so far, it’s going to be a country-tinged pop treasure. I can’t wait to hear it. This is so my kind of stuff. Rich harmonies, beautiful melodies, pedal steel…

Recently Treehouse gave us a video for the title song Top to Bottom and another new song entitled Summer Starts in June. Check out these amazing songs below.

Jay Gonzalez – Mess of Happiness

Drive-By Truckers keyboardist Jay Gonzalez has released a pretty damn good solo album. His own material differs quite a lot from Drive-By Truckers, because Mess of Happiness is actually a great AM-infused power pop album. That suits me fine and I really like the album. There’s lots of colourful arrangements, cool 70s vibe and most importantly, plenty of awesome pop songs. Occasionally Jay is balancing on a thin line, but he does have the taste and talent to make the most out of AM Gold influences without stepping into uncomfortable territory. Mess of Happiness is a whole lot of fun and isn’t that what pop music is supposed to be. This is one below is one of my early favourites, a song entitled Baby Tusk. You can stream the whole album at bandcamp.

Viljami Kukkonen – Mörönsyötti

Today I bought Mörönsyötti by Viljami Kukkonen and I instantly fell in love with it. If I still wrote proper reviews, this one would get full five hearts. Mörönsyötti holds so much beauty and comfort inside. Listening to it for the first time ended up being almost like a spiritual experience. Part of the reason for that was that I had only heard one song beforehand and I simply didn’t know that I was going to spend an afternoon with something so amazing, colourful and captivating. However, after the third song I was already convinced that I was listening to something very special and that feeling have only become stronger during the day. Extremely and monstrously highly recommended. If this won’t end up being in my top 10 for the year 2012, it will be one incredible year. This is the opener Hoivaa.
