Another week, another new music weekly.
This is also the last one for the year. I need a break and there’s not a whole lot of releases around Christmastime. Back probably either on the weekend of week 1 or week 2. Depends on how much new music there is and how long of a break I need. I might add something on the top of this one during the break or just save it all for the next proper new music weekly. Haven’t decided that yet. But anyway, thanks for following along my new music adventure no matter if it’s regularly or occasionally. I really appreciate you following my take on it, because a lot of the actual music media are doing something similar and I’m just one man scraping it together on my spare time.
There’s still stuff coming before Christmas too. I already posted the EP and Finnish albums of the year lists and I’m working on the AOTY list right now. Probably some kind of songs of the year lists too, but those will be mostly just a playlist longer than anyone will listen. But enough with all that and on to the new music. Not a very deep dive, because I will spend a large chunk of this weekend on the AOTY list.
The big ones this week are singles, because two of my huge favorites released new singles. First we have the first single from the second Teini-Pää full-length. A band that I’ve loved since I heard the Täynnä kysymyksiä EP few years back. The new single is again wonderful. Surpringly good Finnish release week for December altogether, because we also got an album Susanna Leppänen & Vallitseva Tilanne, EP from Kielo Kärkkäinen & Matti Salo and singles from Arppa, Ville Leinonen and Pölykuu.
The international hit is the new Kassi Valazza single. Absolutely love to see one of my favorite songwriters joining forces with one of my favorite record labels Fluff & Gravy Records (US) and Loose Music (Europe). The 2022 list isn’t even ready yet, but if this blog still exist at the end of 2023, I can guarantee that Kassi’s album will be on the 2023 AOTY list. On the international singles part there’s also previously unreleased Sparklehorse tune and great new singles from Olenka and the Autumn Lovers, The Secret Beach, Cat Clyde, Jarrod Dickenson and Nathan K. Just to name a few.
Some new international albums too. There’s beautiful ones from Kevn Kinney, Cooper Stoulil, lowercase roses and Smug Brothers (EP). I think there had to be more even though it’s December, but those were the ones that I found on a fairly quick search.
That’s all for now. Like, share, follow and all the usual promotional nonsense. It all matters and gives me motivation to come back for another year. Putting this together every weekend takes huge amount of my time and because the platforms don’t give a whole lot of stats to playlisters, all that social media engagement is kind of only way to know whether this work matters at all. So thank you for all that. Oh and I will drop Apple Music now, because the free months are over and paying for another service just doesn’t make any sense. So it’s Spotify and Tidal in the future. Love from a distance.

Oh and do buy the vinyl/cd/download. Spotify and other streaming services are perfect for these introductory purposes, but try to buy at least the music that matter the most to you
I’ll make the playlist on Spotify and then transfer it to Tidal. This means a few tracks might be missing from the Tidal version, if they are not available on that platform. Usually it’s 1-3 tracks that are not on Tidal. There’s a bunch of older episodes on my Spotify profile, if you miss an episode or want to revisit.
If you are looking this after a week has gone, the embedded Spotify will show the latest playlist. I’ll just update the same playlist because if someone wants to follow it, they can just follow that one list and will get a new set of songs each weekend.
