OCTA New Music Weekly – Episode #278

A big release week once again and there’s all kinds of greatness both from Finland and abroad.

New Adeem the Artist has to be the album of the week. Otherwise Cuppy will be cross with me and I don’t want to upset the employee of the month. But yeah, love that record for sure. Other big album releases came from Mac Cornish, Emily Nenni, The Lemon Twigs, Jon McKiel, Mammoth Penguins, Jessica Pratt, The Deep Dark Woods, Emily Barker, Cara Beth Satalino, Noel McKay, Jay Gavin, Tylor & The Train Robbers, Nathan Kalish (EP), Jonah Sissoyev (EP), Spencer Hoffman (EP), Camera Obscura and Extra Arms.

The Finnish section has a couple of huge album releases from Nightbird and Amuri. I love both and you will surely find them from the EOTY lists at the end of 2024. We also have a great new album from HXA and a run of singles from Luhtaniitty, Toinen Maisema, Jari Raaste, Vellamo, Pitkä Juoksu, Pink Chameleons and Leija Lautamaja feat Pekko Käppi. Plus new Jukka Nissinen single from the last week, because I messed up and forgot to include it then. Shame on me.

New Melissa Carper can be the international single of the week. Other early faves came from American Aquarium, Luka Kuplowsky, India Ramey, Bella White (Ted Lucas cover), MAITA, The Bird Calls, Nick Delffs, Gabriel Birnbaum and Sam and Louise Sullivan… Again just to name a few.

That’s all for now. Like, share, follow and all the usual promotional nonsense. It all matters. I paid the domain bill, so I guess you lovely people are stuck with me for another year. Whether things stay completely same. That’s another question. Maybe I’ll again take a few weeks off during the summer and see if that will give me enough boost to continue with this crazy project. Next TOR-BOS game seven. Back next week. Love love love.

A few Bandcamp cuts for the lovely non-streamers:

Oh and do buy the vinyl/cd/download. Spotify and other streaming services are perfect for these introductory purposes, but try to buy at least the music that matter the most to you

I’ll make the playlist on Spotify and then transfer it to other platforms. This means a few tracks might be missing from the from the other platforms, if they are not available there. Oh and there’s a bunch of older episodes on my Spotify profile, if you miss an episode or want to revisit.

If you are looking this after a week has gone, the embedded Spotify will show the latest playlist. I’ll just update the same playlist because if someone wants to follow it, they can just follow that one list and will get a new set of songs each weekend.
