Will Stewart – Sipsey

Will Stewart is a folk rock, americana songwriter from Birmingham, AL and he is about to release a new solo album County Seat. The first single from the forthcoming album is an excellent nostalgic and reflective beauty called Sipsey and I’m very fond of it. County Seat will be released by Cornelius Chapel Records on the 6th April and I will return to it on the release week or thereabouts.

Willie Breeding – Prague Spring (feat. Caitlin Rose)

Willie Breeding is a Nashville-based songwriter who is about to release his debut album Big Sky. The first outtake from the forthcoming album is called Prague Spring and he co-wrote it with the great Caitlin Rose. It’s a beautiful song and a lovingly told story about his wife’s parents, Italian ambassador and Czech actress, meeting in Prague back in 1962.

Rodeola – Night for Days

There’s already so much 2018 releases that I would like to cover, but I still also need to make a few quick steps back into 2017. Rodeola’s album Night For Days got kind of buried under that pointless year-end list making routine, because it came out on the 1st of December. However, it’s way too good to fly by without any kind of mention, so better share a song and recommend it wholeheartedly. Actually when I first saw the news about a new Rodeola album on my feed, I had no recollection of who they are and why am I following them. Then I remembered that it’s the new name for Kate Long’s folk/americana band The Hollows and that I really liked their Sweetie EP some moons ago. I never ended up buying Sweetie, but I made amends this time around and filled my iPod and heart with the atmospheric Night for Days. This is Starlight/Moonlight from the new Rodeola album.

The Village Ordinary – Al Capone on the Banjo

John Pedigo and Chad Acton from Louisville, KY have played back up for some of my personal folk and/or country favorites like Joan Shelley, Daniel Martin Moore and Nick Dittmeier. Besides being skilled back up musicians, they can handle the songwriting duties just as well. Their debut album under the moniker The Village Ordinary is due out on the 2nd of February. It’s a very enjoyable album and I’m a little bit in love with the song Partly Cloudy, but perhaps I’ll get to that when the album is out and available. The first outtake from the forthcoming album The Needle Spins is also excellent and carries a title Al Capone on the Banjo. Listen to it below and hit that Bandcamp link for pre-order information.
