OCTA New Music Weekly – Episode #253

A delayed Sunday edition of the new music weekly. Probably a lot of stuff is missing, because I was away for the weekend and didn’t have a whole lot to listen new music. But here we go anyway.

We’ll start with a couple of power pop blasts from Uni Boys and Rinehearts. Debut album from Abby Hamilton is also a big deal. The earlier EP was my #3 on my eoty list back in 2020 and it’s great to finally get a full length. Kacey Johansing and Kyle Cox are also big faves of mine and they both have a new beautiful album out there. And that’s not all, there’s new albums from Helena Deland, Anna Hillburg, Mark Fredson, Kelly Hunt, Tex Crick, The Bones of J.R. Jones, Terra Lightfoot, Floating Action, Caitlin Harnett & The Pony Boys, Squirrel Flower and Molly Parden. oh and there’s also song from the Another Michael album that I missed a few weeks ago.

A magnificent Finnish release week too. Maybe the highlight there is the new gorgeous Janne Tapion Sisäinen Avaruus album. I’m also really loving the singles from Salaliitto, MeriTuuli and Joose Keskitalo. Other Finnish gems this week are albums from Vilma Talvitie and Kim Kaino Vieno plus singles from Kot-kat, Knife Girl, Jaakko Eino Kalevi and Santeri Sihvonen & Karjalan Konnat.

And finally the international singles. Some early favorites here came from Adeem the Artist feat Andrea Kukuly Uriarte, Will Payne Harrison feat Van Plating, Willy Tea Taylor and The Fellership, J.E. Sunde, Daniel Ellsworth and Jordan Blackmon, Duff Thompson, Jack Symes and Leyla McCalla & Alynda Segarra. Again just to name a few.

That’s all for now. Like, share, follow and all the usual promotional nonsense. It all matters. Back next week with another hopefully less rushed episode. Until then love and all other beautiful things.

Oh and do buy the vinyl/cd/download. Spotify and other streaming services are perfect for these introductory purposes, but try to buy at least the music that matter the most to you

I’ll make the playlist on Spotify and then transfer it to Tidal. This means a few tracks might be missing from the Tidal version, if they are not available on that platform. Usually it’s 1-3 tracks that are not on Tidal. There’s a bunch of older episodes on my Spotify profile, if you miss an episode or want to revisit.

If you are looking this after a week has gone, the embedded Spotify will show the latest playlist. I’ll just update the same playlist because if someone wants to follow it, they can just follow that one list and will get a new set of songs each weekend.
