Glossary – Long Live All Of Us

New Glossary album Long Live All Of Us came out a week or two ago on Last Chance Records. Which is nice. Soulful rock and alt.country. A band that should be huge. I’m a rather new traveller in this boat though. I only acquired my first Glossary album Feral Fire (their previous) earlier in 2011. I still haven’t heard this new one in full, because first I was wondering whether to go with the download instead of the physical copy, because the shipping charges to Finland were very high (shipping the new Glossary and Shane Sweeney CDs to Finland seem to cost $20 and that’s just too much. Otherwise pretty much the greatest label there is, because all the bands they have on their roster are stunning). And then when I decided to just go with the download, I can’t seem to be able to download it from This Is American Music tonight. My problem or theirs. Don’t know yet, but it will eventually get sorted. Anyway, the point of this post was just to quickly mention that there is a new Glossary album out and available. This is the wonderful opener Trouble Won’t Always Last.

Edit: And about two minutes after this post, Corey from This is American Music sent me a new link for the download. Now that’s what I call fast and fantastic customer service. Therefore it’s time to put the new Glossary album to my iPod, sleep 5 hours and then listen to new Glossary album for 8 hours at work. Sounds good to me.

The Breakdowns – The Kids Don’t Wanna Bop Anymore

File under: The best stuff ever. New The Breakdowns album The Kids Don’t Wanna Bop Anymore is most likely friggin’ amazing. I’m excited after checking out just the 30 sec samples and a couple of full songs. I’m gonna order the album tomorrow. This UK band plays my kind of music. Just great power pop/garage/rock’n’roll action going on. Hey Veronica sounds like The Shoes to me and that’s hardly a bad thing. The Ramones tribute The Kids Don’t Wanna Bop Anymore works equally well. Magnificent!

Video of the Day #76: Brown Bird

I already wrote about the new Brown Bird album Salt For Salt a couple of months ago, but the album is actually coming out later this week. I just pre-ordered my copy tonight and got the download. I only quickly browsed through a couple of songs, so no opinions just high expectations at this point. But I know what I will be doing at work tomorrow. I will listen to this album, because good music makes hard physical work so much easier. Anyway, I just saw this great live video of Brown Bird playing Thunder & Lightning at WBUR studios and really enjoyed it. The song is also on the new album.

These great tracks are also on the new album.

Lenny and The Piss Poor Boys reissued

Suburban Home Records will release several great albums later in 2011. Micah Schnabel and Have Gun, Will Travel are getting ready to release their new albums, but let’s begin with this amazing reissue. Lenny and The Piss Poor Boys from Boston released one amazing album mid 00s, but it’s been out of print for a long while. I only have a lame digital version myself and I’m thrilled that I’m finally able to buy it. It really is a great country album. Traditional country and punk fits well together. Sure there are many punk rockers going country these days and I really like many of them. But only a couple of them can reach the same heights as Lenny and The Piss Poor Boys reached on their debut album. Reissue should hit the stores late november, but you can already preorder it from Suburban Home. You can listen to two great songs from the album on this little sampler.
